This gravy recipe duplicates the tasty tan stuff that's poured over fluffy mashed potatoes at the Colonel's chain of restaurants. And since the original recipe contains MSG (as does their chicken), this clone was designed with that "secret" ingredient. You may choose to leave out the MSG, which is a natural amino acid found in vegetables and seaweed, but your clone surely won't taste like the real thing without it.

In KFC they make from the gravy from the drippings when they change the oil in the fryer. It's mixed with flour and water and that's all. Unless you have that then there's no way to make authentic gravy...

This tastes just like the stuff at KFC but you have to use the MSG...if you don't just make instant potatoes & use a pkg brown gravy mix.

I tried this recipe with high hopes but something was missing in the gravy to make it have the same taste that I remember when purchasing it from KFC. I love the old KFC gravy (back in the late 1980's) and would love to duplicate how it tasted back then before they changed it.
