This creamy green sauce is available at the salsa bar at each of the 389 El Pollo Loco outlets located throughout the western United States, and folks are going crazy over it. The problem is, you can only get it in small quantities at the restaurant, and once you taste a little there you're going to want a lot more of it at home. Use a food processor to mix this one up (everything but the cilantro and onion goes in there) and prepare for a delicious, spicy concoction that you can pour over your favorite homemade Mexican-style dishes, from taco salads to fajitas. Big props go out to Pancho Ochoa, who opened his first roadside chicken stand in Guasave, Mexico in 1975. Today Pancho's El Pollo Loco is the number one quick-service, flame-broiled chicken chain in America.

Just like the real thing. I've been craving this salsa but we don't have a restaurant close by so I took to Google and found this. Super easy and delicious. I'm off to make a bigger batch!

The reason we keep going back to EPL is this salsa/sauce but all the locations in IL have closed so we can only get our fix when we go back to the Southwest for holidays. When we get a dinner for 6+ people, I bring empty jars with to fill up with the sides and we always get a full jar of this stuff to go... While we'll still support the franchise when in town, now I don't have to limit this to a 2x a year treat! WOOT! THANKS TSR.com

Winner all around. Lasts longer than guac and doesn't get brown, much fewer calories and you can make much more than the amount of guacamole you get from the amount of avocado used.

I made this salsa for the first time last night for dinner with pork tacos!! This was so good and my husband alone ate over half of the dip. He said can you make this for me to carry to work!! I will be making this again. Thanks

i followed the recipe exactly, but felt it was missing something. i added lime juice from a whole lime, and that was what i felt completed the recipe. Its easier to just puree the onion and cilantro with everything else.

My daughter and I would get small water cups to fill these up to go LOL. Now we can make this at home once a week, unfortunately it doesn't last all week!

I have always Loved the Avocado Salsa or Green Goop as I call it from the El Pollo Loco but often times it'd be too spicy for my taste but I just love it and take the heat. I got the recipe and made a batch earlier ... I couldn't tell the difference and the fact that I can adjust the heat to my liking is even better. It went great with our frozen taquitos. I Love this stuff !! You'll be sure I'm gonna make a batch whenever I get avocados on sale in my local market.

Now I see why sooooooooo many people want to get their mits on this recipe.....it's great, JUST like at El Pollo Loco, and you don't have to snag 5 tiny "to go cups" of the Avo Salsa....Excellent clone.......

I thought this was wonderful. I really couldn't tell a difference between this and what you get at the restaurant. I'm really grateful for the recipe because I love this and where I live now you can't get any Tex-Mex food. It is also super easy to make and only takes a little time to prepare it. Also, I put the leftovers in the fridge and they really didn't turn very brown so it still looked appetizing on the 2nd day.
