Some may call them "whitey one-bite." They're also known as "sliders," gut busters," and "belly bombers." This 300-unit Midwestern hamburger chain celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1996 without much of a peep, and the company continues to stay impressively profitable despite its low-key marketing. The cooking technique is unique to the chain, because it involves steaming the ground beef patties. The minced onions are placed on the grill, with a beef patty on top. The steam for the grilling onions rises up through the five holes in each thin, square patty, allowing thorough cooking without having to flip the meat over.
Now you can use the same method, but with reduced-fat ingredients, to cook a reduced-fat version of one of the country's oldest burger creations.
