| I found that these didn't taste exactly like the original, they were a little more chocolatey but I can't complain about that :) The texture was great, they were fairly simple to make and the overall taste was amazing :) I will definitely be making these again, and next time I will try the suggestion of the other commenters and add a little orange extract :) Thank you so much for this recipe. |

| This is awesome! I have made 3 batches since last night- given 2 away as gifts, and have gotten nothing but rave reviews. My kids said they don't taste exactly like tootsie rolls, but instead they taste more like a thick hot chocolate. And they loved them so much, they are thrilled with the idea of making them again.
Kudos. |

| These are worth the work. It is easier to pull with two people. It is a fun date activity. Tastes like the real thing. |

| Although the texture was the same, the flavor just wasn't & was lacking. I won't make it again. |

| Haven't made the recipe, but I believe the signature Tootsie Roll flavor comes from just a smidge of orange. Any bartender will tell you that a Tootsie Roll is dark creme de cacao in orange juice. Try adding a hint of orange extract...just a whisper...and I'll bet you'll get an even closer approximation. |

| This is hard labor to make something that you can buy at the store in cute packages. Although they taste very delicious, you get bored after a while. |

| As with anything home-made, there is work to it; but think of it this way:
There are NO preservatives or chemicals that can be harmful to your body in these most fantastic candies!! |

| This is a great recipe, I brought them to work the next day and they were enjoyed by all, my hands got a little tired on that second pull, but worth the effort, thank you. |

| This recipe is great. My husband is a tootsie roll freak and now instead of going to the store all he has to do is twist and pull!

| Fabulous! Worth the effort. Most of these recipes can be purchased in their completed version for rather cheap, but making it from scratch is the fun part. |

| Sorry to hear it's not for your kids, but for the rest of us who enjoy cooking and who are admitted TOOTSIE ROLL FREAKS, this is a spot-on recipe.
We used dutch process cocoa for the recipe and the chocolate flavor was through the roof. You nailed it Todd!! Thanks so much! |

| This recipe is pretty darned labor intensive for something you can get VERY cheaply at the store. It's redeaming value is that it would be fun to make with the kids--if they didn't lose interest in the first 5 minutes of pulling. |
