Starbucks Lemon Loaf

It would take quite a bit of real lemon juice to give this moist cake loaf clone the perfect lemony zip of the original. With too much liquid we wind up with thin batter, and ultimately a baked lemon loaf that lacks dense and flavorful quality of the coffeehouse original. So, to avoid producing a batter that's too runny, we must turn to lemon extract. It's over by the vanilla extract in the baking aisle. This concentrated lemon flavoring works well alongside real lemon juice to give us the perfectly intense lemon flavor we need for a killer clone. The lemon extract also works like a charm to flavor the icing that will top off your faux food.

Keeps falling!

I made this lemon loaf at least 5 different times and could not figure out how to keep the bread from falling. Very disappointed as it has a wonderful flavor, but looks butt ugly! Not worth trying again.
Half the size of Starbucks cake

I made it exactly as stated to the letter. Its barely half the height of Starbucks' lemon pound cake. Disappointed.

This is an excellent recipe. I served it at a party and it was a big hit.

Took a lot longer to cook than 45 minutes, probably more like an hour and I had to cover it with foil for the last 20 minutes or so because the top was getting so brown. I added the zest of one lemon to increase lemon flavor in cake after reading reviews that it was "lemony" enough. Tasted close to original!

This recipe taste 10 times better than Starbucks.

I was just at Starbucks. And, compared my lemon loaf to theirs. There's had no taste. Todd's is 10 x better. It looks like same but has a much better taste.

I just made this today and let me tell you it is fabulous. The best lemon loaf I have made. It is perfect. Texture, taste and looks. Quite surprised. Anyone who gives this a bad review obviously did something wrong for sure. I have all of Todd's books including the new one from QVC, the old one from QVC and one from the Canadian Shopping Channel. A genius. I have made several recipes and they were fantastic and in addition I have made them many times. Thanks so much.

Sorry but this wasn't very good at all. I've never had Starbucks' lemon loaf but this was dry with a strange grainy texture and didn't taste very lemon-y to me. I have another lemon loaf recipe that I think I'll go back to. Also - there was a whole lot of icing that was very, very sweet and not lemon-y at all.

Really love it! Hubby has milk allergy, and used additional oil instead of butter - and no icing. Chopped pecans add to it, also. I'm cooking it every other night!

Awesome recipe!!! Just add a little lemon zest and it tastes evan better. I use an 8 mini loaf pan. I can never seem to have enough because they are awesome....

These taste just like the one at Starbucks. Now I didn't have to buy a slice for like $3.50.

It looked good, but was too dry and not lemony enough for me.

This cake has a great taste but two out of the three time I've made it, the center fell. I mean really fell! Can't figure what was different , but will try one more time. Thanks!

I made this for a book group and it was fantantic! I made the icing with 3 tabls of milk and poked holes in the cake while still warm and poured the icing all over and it was great.

Loved this recipe. I made if for desert with friends and they loved it. I omitted the icing (to cut the sugar/fat) and instead toppped with fresh sliced strawberries and light whipped cream. Yummy!

I have never had Starbucks Lemon Loaf before, this tasted good, but seem to be a little on the dry side, not very moist. I have another Lemon Bread recipe, guess I will stay with it.

I make a lot of pound cakes. This was very good--great lemon flavor. However, the creator must have left something out of the recipe, as it does not have the dense consistency, nor the really lemony flavor of Starbuck's Iced Lemon Poundcake.

Not sure what went wrong as I followed the directions and not only can I read but I know how to cook and bake. This did not taste anywhere near the Starbucks version. I will try one more attempt before scraping this recipe.

This was easy to make, and came out very well. I've never had a lemon loaf before. I really don't see much difference between this and a lemon bundt cake.

I have never eaten Starbuck's lemon loaf, but this loaf was delicious. I added 1/2 cup of toasted, chopped walnuts. Yummy.

Excellent recipe...even better the next day...I added 1 tbsp of poppyseed and used 1/2 the amount of glaze. Its a keeper.

This was the best recipe. My husband started eating it without the glaze even on it so I knew it had to be good.

Give it a 4! Great summertime treat - use an 8x8 and cut into snacking cubes - with a little bit more icing you have super petite fours!!!

This is the BEST LEMON LOAF that I have ever had. The texture and taste are fantastic. Better than any lemon cake that I have ever tasted. A-PLUS I rate it a 10.

Very good and easy recipe! I made it late at night so I couldn't wait for it to cool to put the icing on it before I ate some.
