As far as Chinese food goes, I think the stuff these guys throw together in sizzling woks is surprisingly tasty for a takeout chain. This dish is something of a twist on the traditional sweet and sour chicken commonly found at Chinese restaurants over the years. It's an awesome menu item that has a delicious, citrus-laced, tangy-sweet sauce with a spicy nip the regulars find truly addictive. The chain claims to cook all of its food in woks, including sauces. But this homegrown version will work fine, whether you go for a wok, or not.

The batter comes out soggy when fried. This needs a little bit of crisp before it can really compare to the original.

I kept the batter ice cold with ice cubes while sitting, then adding more flour right before I dipped another round of chicken pieces. This made the batter stick to the chicken while frying. I also will double the sauce in the future.

I make this often and get tons of compliments and requests.Sometimes I'll even make the sauce or cook the chicken the day before serving this so I can spend more time with my guests.

I have tried this twice now. I can't get the batter anywhere the original. The sauce is fairly close to original.
