Made this today for my mom's lunch, on Mother's Day. Not a traditional gift, but she raves about this soup! Super easy to make, not a lot of ingredients - turned out better than a OG! I don't like their's too much, but thought mine rocked. :) OG's is a little bit spicy for my mom, so I used 1/2 lb mild Italian and 1/2 lb hot Italian sausage and cut back on the pepper flakes. Perfect! She was so excited when she took the lid off the pot. I even ate a bowl. So worth the 79 cents!

I love this soup at Olive Garden, and I like the home version even more! I use reduced fat turkey sausage, and sometimes skim milk to make it more figure friendly. It's easy to make and easy on the budget!

Our favorite soup! Love how quick it is to put together. We like it better then the original. I put more kale in for a few more vitamins.

I think this recipe is better than the restaurant version. I just add sweet Italian sausage for those who don't like it quite so spicy it it's a hit!

GREAT! I was worried that it wouldnt turn out the same, but sure enough it did. It was dead on. This has been my favorite soup for ages. Move over baked potatoe soup and clam chowder, there is a new king in town. LOL.

I love this recipe. Like others that have reviewed this, I found that 45 minutes was plenty of time to simmer the soup, and the kale does get too soft if you put it in at the beginning. Put it in after the first 20 minutes, and the texture is right on.

I love this soup!!! But next I am going to add more cream and put the kale in half way through so it wont be as soft.

I make this soup all the time now for my husband. It's excellent. Everytime we go to Olive Garden my husband always brags and says how much better my soup is than theirs! I agree with one other person and only simmer the soup for 45 minutes. I also add a little more cream than is called for, mild italian sausage and I don't add any extra salt. Yummo!!! Thanks Todd!

My family loves this soup! I have a bunch of picky eaters, and they always complain about leafy things - but not this time! The flavor is right-on with OG's - Great work!

We love the original version but haven't had it since my vegetarian daughter returned home. I transformed this into a vegetarian version by substituting non-meat Italian sausage crumbles and vegetable broth. It turned out great.

This is fabulous and better than OG because it's freshly-made. I use squeezed-out frozen spinach instead of kale just because its easy. I use bulk sausage to crumble and brown. Have served to guests and family and always get raves.

This is the best! My husband LOVES this soup, and is not a huge soup fan. The kale can be hard to find-ask the seafood dept. if you're not seeing it (they like to use it to decorate their displays).

I have a very bad addiction to this soup and I have been trying different recipes this month. So far this has been the closest. My only complaint is that it is too spicy. I think I will use mild or sweet sausage next time. I also added more chicken broth until it looked right, and I only used about 1 cup of Kale. It's also good to toss in some grated romano or parmesean and fresh grated Romano on top, just like at the restaurant.

This is great, OG has nothing better that this recipe. It is a meal by itself. I make after every trip to the store where I buy fresh sausage.

Tasted almost like OG's, slightly saltier. Perhaps next time I will use low sodium chicken broth instead. Very good. I added a bit more Kale and Sausage and doubled broth and cream.

I think this recipe is actually better than most Olive Garden locations that I have tried. I now live in Australia and can't find kale. I substituted silver beet and it was just as tasty!

This is good. I prefer to use sweet Italian sausage in place of spicy. The red pepper flakes give it enough kick for me.

OMG, This is sooo good!!! My family begs me to make it, not to mention my Pregnant Sis so I made this for a Church Potluck and everyone wanted to know where I got the recipe. I told them it was "Top Secret" and they will have to wait for the next potluck for some :)

This is one of my favorite O.G. selections. When I made it, I scooped the sausage out of the skin and browned it like ground beef so that it was more like the restaurant version. I would also recommend simmering for only about 45 minutes so the soup has the same consistency as the original. Otherwise it was fantastic.
