In the coffee war that's been brewing since 2007, McDonald's is emerging victorious by snagging a significant chunk of the $11-billion coffee market away from sector-leader Starbucks. The hamburger chain's McCafe offerings, which include premium cappuccinos, lattes, and iced coffees, scored higher in taste tests according to Consumer Reports magazine, and the drinks come with a lower price tag than comparable beverages at the coffeehouse chain. The Vanilla Iced Coffee appears to be a standout selection at Mickey D's, and a home clone is simple after you get your hands on some Torani vanilla syrup. Brew up some coffee, chill it, then pour these three ingredients over ice in a 16-ounce glass. The taste of your finished drink will be determined by the quality of your coffee (McDonald's has its own beans), so be sure to brew your best stuff. The better the coffee you start with, the better your clone will taste.

This taste JUST like the McD's version! So good! I love that I can make it decaf too! Perfect for our Sunday morning summer breakfasts at home! Great because you can "lighten" it up w/ the sugar-free vanilla syrup and fat free half and half. I tried it as written so not sure how accurate the lighter version would be, but an option! Yum!

I make mine with the decaffinated Folgers bag and it is absolutely delicious. I also use fat-free half and half and Torani sugar free vanilla syrup. I do try to limit it to one drink a day though.

This looks good and I'm going to try it, but there are sugar-free vanilla syrups so you don't have to load up on sugar. If someone finds one that tastes like the McDonalds version, could you include it here? The DaVinci is ok, but it's not the same. Also, you can use liquid coffee creamer instead of half-n-half, but it has sugar, too.

WAY too much syrup! There is enough sugar in this recipe to put you into a coma! DO NOT use this much sugar in ANYTHING you eat or drink!
