A versatile cheese spread for crackers, baked potatoes, or bagel chips. Found on Food.com.

1 garlic clove
2 8-ounce packages cream cheese (softened)
1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine (butter preferred)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1. Chop garlic clove in food processor, stopping once to scrape down the sides.

2. Add cream cheese, butter and remaining ingredients. Process until smooth, stopping twice to scrape down sides. Cheese mixture may be refrigerated up tp one week or frozen up to three months.

Makes 3 cups.

I made 8 batches for the holidays, all by hand. It tastes amazing, and guests all loved it! The herbs are so well-balanced that it's difficult to guess the ingredients. Garlic-lovers should resist the temptation to add more garlic, as it tends to overwhelm the herbs.

I love Boursin cheese but hate the price tag. This is a good tasting, cheaper equivalent. It's not perfect, but it's darn close.
